What is Inspire Global Assessments (IGA)?
Formerly NCAS (Nursing Community Assessment Service), IGA is BC's mandatory competency check for internationally educated nurses (IENs). BCCNM refers applicants to prove skills match Canadian standards.
Assessments (CBA + SLA): Inspire offers one integrated assessment (formerly known as “Triple-Track”).
-
CBA: 3-5 hour MCQ/multiple-select on clinical reasoning (global/remote proctoring).
-
SLA: Hands-on sim lab at Langara College (Vancouver) or BCIT (Burnaby)—skills, communication, prioritization.
Time limit: 1 year from referral; CBA/SLA within 3 months of each other.
Who Needs IGA? (Same as before) RN/LPN/HCA IENs via BCCNM.
